Our review:Item Description:Since its publication in 1996, this definitive journal for expectant families has sold over a million copies. Author A. Christine Harris brings a revised and thoroughly updated edition to today’s parents-to-be. Still featuring daily entries, a personalized timeline, and pregnancy glossary, the revised edition provides a clearer picture of the baby's in-utero development and the latest advice about giving a growing baby every advantage prior to birth.
Amazon.com Review:Whether this is pregnancy number 1 or number 10, nothing makes it easier to connect with a growing baby than knowing exactly what magical development is happening every day. Filling the need for practical information, medical data, emotional and spiritual fuel, and even 'pregnancy trivia,'
The Pregnancy Journal is easily one of the best books available for a woman or couple expecting a baby. The journal contains about half a page of information for each day from conception through delivery. Nutrition, how to avoid discomforts associated with pregnancy, childbirth customs in other cultures, and practical parenting tips are among the topics touched on. Many days in the journal have a great section called 'Did You Know'; for example, from Day 49: 'The baby's arms at this point are only as long as this printed 1.' At the bottom of each page is a quote from a literary or historical figure; some are sentimental, some pithy, some humorous, all inspiring.
The information and quotes seem to invite musings and speculation on the miracle unfolding inside the womb; there is some space for recording data and thoughts, but if you want to write more than just a few lines every few days, you might want to have a blank journal to accompany
The Pregnancy Journal. The format of this book makes it much more manageable and inviting than most books on pregnancy, and the information is made even more accessible by the inclusion of a glossary/subject index in the back. Don't wait until the shower to give this excellent resource and thoughtful gift--moms-to-be will want to have it from the very beginning.

not bad, but not a best-buy
This journal's okay. I used it for the 9 weeks while I was pregnant for the first time (sadly, I miscarried after that point).
Why I won't buy it again:
1. The tone is rather medical. I tried to read each day aloud to my husband, but felt dumb and like I was talking about some vague medical occurrence, not the reality of a child's life growing inside me.
2. Random places to journal. Some weeks, there was no room for anything more than waist & weight. Other times, a half or entire page of blank lines with no guidance as to what to journal about showed up.
3. Seemed out-of-date. I also subscribed to 2 email newsletters (baby center and American Pregnancy Association) about pregnancy week-by-week. This book was often ahead or behind in development, while those two sources were in sync with one another. This book also recommends things like eating liver, which every other recent source I know of has said this is no longer recommended because of its high levels of vitamin A.
That said, I'm rating the book 3 stars because I love the idea of a pregnancy journal in general, and don't know of a different one to buy.

Wife loved it
My wife loved this book when she was pregnant with our first child. She loved it so much that we purchased it as a gift for a relative who recently found out she was pregnant with their first child.

Great for the information-loving types!
I got this journal for my sister-in-law because it had so much information integrated into a day-by-day journaling format with a few guided questions. She, in turn, got it for me, and I really loved it once I used it with my own growing belly. I recommend this journal to anyone, first baby or not!

Awesome Journal during pregnancy!
This book is Awesome! It was given to me as a gift from my sister-in law when I found out I was pregnant. This book is full of fantastic information for every day throughout pregnancy. I enjoyed looking at it each morning and sharing the information with my husband. Some days my husband would check it out himself. We enjoyed the facts from childbirth in other cultures. It narrows your pregnancy into the 9 lunar months, weeks and days. There are many food facts that try to keep you on track to eat healthy; I found them to be little reminders. There are so many facts and tips in this book which really helps you obtain a better understanding of what you are going through. The dates are a little frustrating to figure out at first, but once you understand how it works, it is well worth it!
This journal is great especially for a first pregnancy; it gives you reassurance that most of your symptoms are "normal". It makes you are aware of pregnancy and the development of your baby. I highly suggest this journal. I have already given it as a gift, and will continue to do so.
